WCEU 2023 Offers Free Childcare & Kids’ Workshops

Preparations for WordCamp Europe (WCEU) 2023 in Athens are well underway, with the team set to contact speakers who have been selected for the event. In a bid to encourage more diversity on stage, the organizers have launched a Speaker Support Program that aims to connect speakers with companies that are willing to provide financial support.

WCEU has also opened registration for Contributor Day, which will take place on June 8, marking the start of the event. For those who are unable to attend in person, there is the option to join in the #contributor-day channel on Slack, as well as the specific channels for the contributor teams.

In addition to Contributor Day, WCEU has announced that it will be hosting an interactive Workshop for Kids on June 8, aimed at introducing future generations to WordPress. The workshop will cover the basics of WordPress, including how to create a website, choose a theme, and publish content. It is open to children aged 13-16, and all materials will be provided.

To make WordCamp more accessible for parents and guardians, free childcare will be available during Contributor Day and the main conference from June 8-10. Children aged 16 and younger are eligible to attend but must register by May 20, as availability is limited.

The call for volunteers is still open, with a range of roles available. Volunteers will receive one or two collectable volunteer t-shirts, a free ticket, and an invite to the Social, as well as the experience of contributing back to the WordPress community at one of its largest events.

In summary, WCEU 2023 promises to be an exciting event that caters to a diverse range of attendees. From the Speaker Support Program to the Workshop for Kids and free childcare, the organizers have made a concerted effort to ensure that everyone can participate in this celebration of WordPress. If you’re interested in attending or volunteering, be sure to register and get involved!
