Post Status Celebrates 10th Anniversary, Welcomes Joost de Valk and Marieke van de Rakt as Partners

Post Status Celebrates a Decade of Serving WordPress Professionals

Post Status, a member-supported community for WordPress professionals, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Founded in 2013 by Brian Krogsgard, the site has grown into a thriving community with various resources and platforms for its members. With over 2,000 members in its active Slack community, 4,300 subscribers to its weekly newsletter, and a job board, Post Status has become a valuable hub for WordPress professionals.

To mark this milestone and further enhance its offerings, Post Status recently announced the addition of two WordPress veterans as equity partners. Joost de Valk and Marieke van de Rakt have invested cash in the business and will also take on active roles in leading the Post Status community. De Valk will serve as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), while Van de Rakt will contribute as an advisor and editorial contributor.

Van de Rakt expressed her gratitude towards Post Status, stating that the community has played a crucial role in helping them grow their WordPress businesses. She believes that it is only fitting to contribute and take on an active role within the Post Status community at this point.

Post Status CEO Cory Miller emphasized that the organization will continue to uphold its vision and values, which revolve around supporting the business of WordPress, with a particular emphasis on agency owners. Additionally, co-owner Lindsey Miller will be transitioning into a new role as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).

While maintaining its focus on the professional community, Post Status has plans for expansion this year. The organization has soft-launched its new website, poststatus.com, which features a Partner Directory showcasing various WordPress businesses. This directory aims to create a healthy and growing business ecosystem within WordPress, ultimately contributing to its continued success.

In addition to the Partner Directory, Post Status is ramping up its editorial commentary and analysis on industry trends. With the expertise of new partners de Valk and van de Rakt, the organization is also in the early stages of planning an annual summit. This summit will provide a platform for businesses and individuals in the WordPress marketplace to gather, discuss industry-related topics, and collaborate on initiatives.

Miller highlighted the importance of such gatherings, stating that most industries already have similar venues for conversations about the state of their respective industries. Post Status aims to fill this gap within the WordPress community and provide a space for meaningful discussions and collaborations.

Sponsors play a crucial role in supporting Post Status and its initiatives. While the organization has historically focused on individual membership for WordPress professionals, it is now shifting its focus to businesses as members. Miller emphasized that Post Status welcomes all WordPress professionals, whether they work at WordPress companies or incorporate WordPress into their work.

As one of the few WordPress organizations operating for over a decade, Post Status is well-positioned to step into the role previously occupied by the retired Pressnomics event. The WordPress community is in need of an event that caters specifically to the business-focused community, allowing them to connect and contribute to WordPress’ success in the wider industry.

To stay updated on Post Status’ efforts and plans and to support the business community, individuals can join as members and subscribe to the weekly newsletter. With its decade-long commitment to serving WordPress professionals, Post Status continues to be a valuable resource and community for those involved in the WordPress ecosystem.
