Learn how the Google Ads API makes conversion adjustment uploads more efficient

Google Ads API has announced significant changes that will simplify the process of uploading conversion adjustments. This update is set to remove a key friction point for advertisers and API users, enabling more immediate data adjustments and potentially leading to more accurate campaign optimization.

Starting from September 9th, users will be able to upload conversion adjustments immediately after the original conversion is recorded, eliminating the previous 24-hour waiting period. This change is accompanied by the removal of error codes related to “too recent” conversions. Additionally, adjustments will be counted as “pending” until processed, which can take up to 24 hours. These changes will affect Google Ads API versions v15, v16, and v17.

API users should take note of some key actions to ensure a smooth transition. First, they should remove logic that enforces waiting periods for adjustment uploads. Applications should also be modified to no longer track the removed error codes. Users who rely on successful or failed event count metrics may need to adjust their logic, particularly for v17.

This update aims to streamline the conversion adjustment process, which could result in more timely and accurate campaign data for advertisers. Google advises users to update their applications and processes ahead of September 9th to adapt to these changes.

While this change simplifies the upload process, it may require some adjustments to existing workflows and applications for Google Ads API users. However, the potential benefits of more immediate data adjustments and improved campaign optimization make it a worthwhile update.
